Commtech Communications Technologies President Arthur Alvis Accepts Delivery of Single Engine Turboprop Model 208
Wichita, KS—Yingling Aviation and Cessna Aircraft Company today surpassed a significant milestone with the delivery of the 100th Cessna Model 208 Caravan fitted with an Oasis interior. The versatile single engine turboprop was delivered to Wichita businessman Arthur Alvis, president of Commtech Communications Technologies, a manufacturer of specialty computer products.
“From the outset of this program, we anticipated strong response from Caravan operators,” said Lynn Nichols, president of Yingling Aviation, “ but we had no idea that we would reach the 100th unit in less than 5 years. It’s extremely gratifying to work with Cessna and to provide such a versatile and comfortable cabin environment for customers like Arthur Alvis. Commtech is an excellent example of the type of operator that is perfectly suited for this type of aircraft. They regularly transport teams of engineers to remote sites and have a need for a multi-function cabin that can accommodate meetings among engineers, working on computers and staying linked to their offices on the ground. The Oasis Caravan is an ideal aircraft for them,” he added.
“We did a thorough and exhaustive comparison of the various aircraft we thought might meet our needs,” Alvis noted, “and the Caravan with the Oasis interior was the clear, hands-down winner. As a Wichita-based company, we take local pride in both Cessna and Yingling and are extremely pleased to do business with both of them.”
On hand for the delivery of the milestone Caravan were Yingling President Nichols, Cessna’s Vice President of Worldwide Propeller Aircraft Sales John Doman and Yingling’s Manager of Oasis Interiors, Angie Jackson. Joining Mr. Alvis for the ceremony were his wife Barbara and their two children, Alexandra and Elliott. The Model 208 is Commtech’s second company airplane. The firm owned a Cessna Turbo 182 RG from 2000-2008.
Cessna announced the OASIS interior at the 2003 NBAA convention. The OASIS interior provides Caravan customers the trappings of first class surroundings in a versatile and economical turboprop aircraft. Cessna and Yingling Aviation established an agreement that enables Caravan customers to order their Yingling OASIS interior from Cessna for installation by Yingling under their exclusive Supplemental Type Certificate (STC). This arrangement allows customers to have their Yingling OASIS interior crafted concurrently with the production of their aircraft and take delivery of their beautiful new Caravan in a simplified delivery process. Yingling handles all of the interior installation logistics, saves the customer time and eliminates many potential pitfalls

The exclusive OASIS interior is distinguished by its high overall quality and attractive selections of leather, fabric, and cabinetry finishing. Unique accessory and entertainment offerings include two standard AC power outlets and three optional video screens strategically located throughout the cabin.
The Caravan OASIS interior provides seating configurations for up to 10 people with two forward facing seats behind the crew, a four-place club seating area with
executive side tables, and aft divan seating for two incorporating a standard flushing toilet approved for occupancy during takeoff and landing. The veneer or laminate wood cabinetry features two standard forward cabinets, one providing a convenient refreshment center, while the other is available for pilot materials and general storage applications. Electronic equipment including the latest high-tech entertainment systems, telecommunications, and flight data displays are also available as options.
